U.S. Anchovy Export – FDA Import Alert #16-74 Petition Approved!

(Petition for Removal from the Import Alert)

Recently, J&B successfully assisted a Korean seafood company in submitting a petition to the U.S. FDA, allowing them to resume anchovy exports to the U.S. market. This approval has opened new trade opportunities for the company.

According to FDA regulations, anchovies with their intestines intact are not permitted for standard import clearance into the U.S.

However, if the product meets FDA requirements, the agency may allow the import of anchovies under FDA Import Alert #16-74.

To gain this approval, companies must submit a petition to the FDA, providing evidence that their manufacturing processes comply with FDA regulations.

Challenges of the Petition Process

The petition process is complex and requires specialized knowledge and experience. Without expertise, it can be difficult to navigate.

By working with J&B, which has extensive experience in U.S. regulatory compliance, companies can successfully resolve Import Alerts and gain access to the U.S. market.

Currently, J&B is also assisting with enoki mushroom exports to the U.S., addressing Listeria contamination issues, and supporting numerous Korean companies in resolving FDA Import Alerts.
